Announcing I-CAN!™ E-File’s Partnership with TaxACT
The Legal Aid Society of Orange County’s (LASOC) I-CAN! E-File self-preparation tax software has been enabling taxpayers to file their taxes for the past 10 years. However, LASOC did not receive funding from the Legal Service Corporation Technology Initiative Grants (LSC TIG) this year. Therefore we regret that LASOC will be unable to sustain and/or provide its I-CAN! E-File self-preparation tax module to taxpayers this tax season.
In an effort to provide our loyal partners and users with an alternative tax preparation resource, we are pleased to announce our partnership with TaxACT for the 2012 tax season.
I-CAN! E-File has partnered with TaxACT to enable taxpayers to prepare and e-file their Federal tax returns completely free with a nominal fee of $17.95 to file the state return. Benefits of this new partnership include no income limitations, form limitations, or state limitations. If the user’s adjusted gross income is over $57,000, they can still take advantage of this offer to file their Federal tax return for free and this program can be used regardless of the state in which they work or reside.
To take advantage of this offer to file Federal taxes online for free, please visit www.icanefile.org and click the TaxACT link.
If you have any questions regarding this new partnership with TaxACT, more information can be found at www.icanefile.org or questions via email can be directed to Michelle Farnsworth [email@example.com].
We look forward to expanding services to you this tax season through this great new partnership!
Frequently Asked Questions
How much money would it cost to fund I-CAN! E-File in upcoming tax years?
I-CAN! E-File costs about $250,000-$300,000 per year to update and maintain. This includes online support, development costs, server co-location and administration. Although some partners have contacted our organization offering to help with funding cost, we do not believe enough partners would be interested in supporting these costs enabling us to continue. Partners can email Glenn Rawdon at Legal Service Corporation (LSC) and request the project receive further funding. Doing so would be the only way we could foresee bringing back I-CAN! E-File in the future.
How can our organization partner with I-CAN! E-File for the 2012 tax season?
To make it easy to share or software, you can provide the link that we have posted at http://icanefile.org or simply provide a link to http://icanefile.org or www.taxact.com/icanefile on your website, flyers, or in-person.
