What This Privacy Policy Covers

This policy covers how LASOC treats personal information that LASOC collects and receives, including information related to your past use of LASOC products and services. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, address, email address, or phone number, and that is not otherwise publicly available.

Information Collection and Use


LASOC collects personal information when you use LASOC products or services, when you visit LASOC pages. When you use LASOC products or services we ask for information such as your name, email address, birth date, gender, zip code, occupation, industry, address, Social Security number, and information about your assets. Once you sign in to our services, you are not anonymous to us. LASOC collects information about your transactions with us including information about your use of services that we offer. LASOC automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, and the page you request. LASOC uses information for the following general purposes: to customize the content you see, fulfill your requests for services, improve our services, contact you, conduct research, and provide anonymous reporting for internal and external clients. When you submit third party information within your tax return, we will collect that third party's name, social security number, birthdate and contact information, and other information required to process your tax return. This information will not be shared or used for any other purpose.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

LASOC does not rent, sell, or share personal information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies except to the IRS and your state when you e-file your tax return. We do not share, sell, rent or trade your personally identifiable information with third parties for their promotional purposes. We respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; We believe it is necessary to share information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of LASOC's terms of use, or as otherwise required by law. We transfer information about you if LASOC is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, LASOC will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy. LASOC does not display targeted advertisements based on personal information.

Confidentiality and Security

We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs.   • Our web site servers are tested daily by McAfee® Secure to protect against vulnerabilities.
  • Our tax software is encrypted by Verisign® to protect your data as you enter or review it, or print your forms.
  • Your E-file data is encrypted when it is sent to the IRS or your state.
  • Your data is stored on servers in an AT&T® datacenter, and are protected against intrusion with the highest physical security levels.
  • You create your own username and password and there is no third party access to your information. You can authorize us to access your data when providing user support.
  • If you forget to sign out, our software will prevent access to your data after a while.
  • Our software saves no personal data to your computer. You can choose to save your forms if you wish.
  • All physical technology equipment, development and support staff, and all materials related to our software are located in the U.S.A.

Cookies/Log Files

We do not link the information we store in cookies/log files to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site.

Website Tracking

We do not link the information we store in cookies/log files to any personally identifiable information you submit while on our site. We do use website tracking for reporting of internal information and statistics for determining website activity. We collect the number of page loads, the number of unique visitors, the number or new and returning users, a URL referring link if available, visit length, and web browser and system statistical and configuration information. We use this to better plan service maintenance windows to minimize user disruption for scheduled maintenance, for capacity planning purposes, to ensure our website user interface is designed for the majority of users who view our site and they type of browsers viewing it and similar web technology tracking.

Updating/Accessing/Amending/Correcting Personally Identifiable Information

If your personally identifiable information changes, or if you no longer desire our service, you may correct, update, or amend it by making the change within I-CAN! by logging in with your username and password. If you wish to have your information deactivated, email our Customer Support at, or contact us by postal mail at the contact information listed below. We will respond to your email request to deactivate within 5 business days via email or 30 days via postal mail. Prior to your return being accepted by the IRS and/or your state you may make changes to personally identifiable information by:

  1. Access our website.
  2. Select "Check my E-File Status".
  3. Select "Log in to my account for my 2010 tax return".
  4. Enter your username and password.
  5. Select "Log in to my return".
  6. Then you can make changes to your information.
Once your return has been accepted by the IRS and/or your state you can make no changes to your personally identifiable information.

Changes in this Privacy Statement

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, to the home page, and other places we deem appropriate so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here, by means of a notice on our home page or by email, 30 calendar days prior to implementing a change.

We provide you the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes, when we ask for this information. For example, if you request support through online chat, or via email. We will communicate with you by email or online chat, in accordance with your wishes. You will be notified when your personally identifiable information is collected by any third party that is not our agent/service provider, so you can make an informed choice as to whether or not to share your information with that party.
